Metro South Health provided a range of opportunities for staff and community members to provide feedback regarding the proposed health precinct and access to health services more generally. The engagement process formally commenced on 29th July and continued until ‘no new information’ surfaced.
The results of the engagement are provided in the Wynnum Health and Community Precinct Engagement Report.
This survey collects information regarding the use of health services in the Wynnum area. It includes questions about frequency of access, perceived quality of care, travel to non-urgent health services and sources of information regarding health care options.
Metro South Health is progressing plans to create its vision for a new Health and Community Precinct for the Wynnum area on the site of the former Moreton Bay Nursing Care Unit.
We envisage that the new Health and Community Precinct will include a range of services provided by Metro South Health, as well as services from other health care providers such as GPs, residential aged care facilities, allied health and other specialists to provide access to a full range of ambulatory health services for everyone in our community at one location. Artist’s impressions and visual representations have been released to demonstrate the mix of health related services at the proposed Health and Community Precinct.
Metro South Health welcomes the recent Federal Government announcement of a $15 million agreement to establish a Commonwealth-funded GP Clinic at Wynnum. We will be pleased to work with the successful tenderer for the new GP Clinic to explore options for revitalising health services for the local community.
We are commencing consultation with the community to provide information and gather feedback on the vision for a new Health and Community Precinct at Wynnum. Input from the community will be combined with detailed demographic analysis to ensure a service in the Wynnum and Bayside area which meets the current and future health needs of all of the community.
